Is Contemporary Christian Music Socially Acceptable?

The answer to this question doesn't depend on which side of the fence you are on, Christian or Non-Christian. The answer isn't just cut and dry. Both sides of the arena accept and condemn contemporary Christian music according to their own separate beliefs and convictions. Ironically though, this music has gained more support by both the Church and the mainstream than it had a few years ago.

If you are a Christian and don't believe that contemporary Christian music is of the Lord you can cast some stones at your brothers and sisters in the Lord from this side of the fence at: "Christian" Rock Music-Christian or Satanic? The author of this page has his own guidelines for lyrics, score, and the character of the music. There are even scriptural references for justifying the right to be wrong. It looks pretty obvious that if you are not in a three piece suit, clean cut, singing a hymn from ye old hymnal, you are of the devil . . . and make sure there isn't any loud beat, drums or guitars . . . especially the new fangled electric style . . . after all, they are satanic and evil!

Here's an example of how some of the mainstream feels about Christians . . . At the annual MTV Music Video awards this year Marilyn Manson performed their canned "I hate" Christians act. The above was found at The weekly article about Indie/Alternative Music on 9-15-97.

On the Mainstream side a few CCM Artists such as, Amy Grant, Michael W. Smith, Jars of Clay, DC Talk, Bob Carlisle, Newsboys and others have earned wide respect and have had some of their stuff played on Top 40 and other radio stations.

On the Christian side of the fence it would seem like the body of Christ would support the spreading of the gospel through CCM. You might say "My Church supports it and the Youth Group goes to all the concerts." You may have seen many a young person give his life to the Lord as a result of a Christian rock concert or similar event. Still, there are Churches and religious organizations that think CCM is of the devil, despite the Christian message and the good fruit. CCM to them is just as bad as the Satanist bands that invite kids to sell their souls and dedicate their lives to Satan. Here's a few scriptures that support CCM . . .

Matt 7:20: Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.
