Get your VCRs programmed and ready for the upcoming CBS Sunday Movie, "Music from the Heart", premiering September 26, 1999 (9:00 to 11:00 p.m. EST) on the CBS network. Amy Grant stars as a blind concert cellist who falls for a famous pianist, but doesn't realize that true love is right before her eyes. This will be the first CBS Television Movie to be broadcast in HDTV format (High Definition Television) as well as Amy's first acting role... adding to an 18-year career that has given her five Grammy Awards and resulted in 22 million copies in album sales. Amy Grant makes her acting debut starring with actors Keith Carradine ("A Thousand Acres," "The Tie That Binds") and D.W. Moffett ("Stealing Beauty," "Falling Down"). Amy Grant just recently performed at a fund-raising gala, celebrating the 75th and 74th birthdays of the former President and Mrs. George Bush and benefiting The University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center held on June 10th in the Houston Astrodome. Also sharing the stage were Michael W. Smith, Reba McEntire, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Ricky Skaggs, Larry Gatlin and others. Proceeds from the event are to establish The George and Barbara Bush Endowment for Innovative Cancer Research. The fund-raising goal of $10 million was set for the endowment. Amy Grant is also working in the studio on a Christmas album. The album is slated for a release date of October 19, 1999. She already has chosen the title for the new Christmas release to be "A Christmas To Remember". Plans are also being put together for a Christmas Tour with Michael W. Smith & Point of Grace. Before all this materialized some of you may have heard rumors that Amy and her hubby were getting a divorce. Well, it's sad to say, but it was all true. All the way back in October 1998, the Star featured an article that Amy Grant and husband Gary Chapman were calling it quits after 16 years of marriage. According to an official press release from their management companies, Amy Grant and Gary Chapman announced on December 30, 1998 that they are separating. On March 5, 1999 the Myrrh recording artist Amy Grant has regretfully filed for divorce from Gary Chapman, due to irreconcilable differences. Both Grant and Chapman have requested prayers and privacy during this difficult time. Jim Chaffee, G.M./V.P. of Myrrh Records states, "We are saddened by this announcement and continue to pray for Amy, Gary and their children. Amy's achievements have raised the level of awareness of Christian music and, more importantly, the Gospel in the world. Additionally her life and music have encouraged and edified the body of Christ over the span of her career. We will continue to support Amy as a Myrrh artist. Our prayer is that God's presence will be with her and with her family through this difficult time." Go To Page: 1 2
