Sixpence None the Richer's self titled Grammy nominated album was recently certified GOLD by the Recording Industry Association of America. The lead single from Sixpence None the Richer, "Kiss Me" is also certified GOLD. The hit single has been topping several charts in the United States, Canada, and the UK. "Kiss Me" is the #1 most played song on the radio in the United Kingdom. The video has also seen a lot of airplay on MTV, VH1, and Praise TV.

Then, much to their surprise, on Friday, June 18, a representative of Prince Edward's family contacted Sixpence's record label, Squint Entertainment, requesting permission to use Sixpence's single "Kiss Me" during the BBC telecast of Prince Charles' brother, Prince Edward's June 19th royal wedding to Sophie Rhys-Jones. This wedding gave them both a new title now that identifies them as the Earl and Countess of Wessex. The ceremony took place at St. George's Chapel in Windsor. The 500 year old castle is located just west of London. In the United States, the BBC's coverage was carried by The Discovery Channel/The Learning Channel, beginning at 11 a.m. eastern time Saturday and ended at around 1:30 p.m. An estimated 200 million viewers tuned in to see the Britain Prince's wedding on Saturday, June 19th, and also heard Sixpence's "Kiss Me" play on the international telecast of the ceremony.

"I never dreamed that a little pop song I wrote would ever be included in the festivities of a royal wedding," stated Sixpence's bandleader Matt Slocum. "I am honored practically speechless, and feel as if the song has been anointed in a special way. May the Lord grant Prince Edward and his bride eternal happiness."

"Tradition has it that someone close to a betrothed couple should present the bride with a lucky sixpence," muses Squint founder Steve Taylor. "She is then to place the coin in her slipper on her wedding day...we at Squint think very highly of that tradition."

Coming soon in August, Sixpence None the Richer will release their own cover of "There She Goes." Originally written and recorded by the La's (an early '90s British pop group), the single was also featured on the movie soundtrack for the 1993 hit movie, So I Married an Axe Murderer. Sixpence has already been playing the song in their live shows for over a year. Sixpence just began working on the video for "There She Goes" and is scheduled to spend a total of three days shooting the video, which is being directed by the band's longtime friend Brandon Dickerson.; Sixpence will debut "There She Goes" nationally on July 6 with an appearance on The Late Show with David Letterman.
