Michael W Smith Live the Life Concerthe was thinking out loud on the piano, and taking a "Fun Break" when we all heard him playing "Chopsticks" then the theme from the old cartoon "Peanuts". The mood and the moment took a change to sincerity when he did "Pray For Me" and "Somewhere In the Night". This was followed up by a heartfelt dedication to the kids at Columbine High School in Littleton, Colorado. The song of course was "Friends". Smitty was invited to Littleton to be part of the memorial service, and flew out the next day with all of our prayers for him the kids there. On a related note I also enjoyed several other excellent Christian Bands, one of which was "Temple Yard" which includes all of the former "Christafari" members minus one member (Mark Moher) who owns the name "Christafari". Temple Yard's lead singer Erik Sundin graduated from Columbine High School and was deeply touched and shocked that this happened at his old High School. It was about 9:00 PM when we were ministered to with "Live the Life". This was followed up with "I Believe In You Know", "Cross of Gold", "Love Me Good", then an introduction of all the members of the band. He then played "The Father's Love For Us" and "Everywhere I Go, I See You". It was now time for the group participation thing, and what song could be more appropriate than the popular song we have all sang in a Church at one time or another, that asks the Lord to help prepare us to be a "Sanctuary", pure and holy, tried and true. This was followed up by doing one of Christian Music's most anointed and most missed artists' songs. I'm sure everyone knows this would be the late Rich Mulllins. The whole Palladium was singing with Smitty as he led us in "Step By Step" and then closed the concert with "Awesome God". We all tried to get him to play an encore as all faithful concert goers
do, by beating on the seats, and stomping on floor. Then I remembered...It's
his son's birthday and it's 9:30 PM. No encore tonight. But actually none
was needed. He done his best and we all were blessed. On a scale of 1 to
10, this concert deserves a 9.5. (It would have been a 10 if we got the
encore).
