First let me make a disclaimer. I am not a member of the Salvation Army but these beliefs and principles have been obtained from official publications obtained from the Salvation Army Corps in Lexington, KY. It is always very important to check out a ministry's statement of beliefs before getting too involved. They may heal the body, but Jesus said "what shall a man gain if he gain the whole world but lose his soul?"

The Doctrines of The Salvation Army

The Salvationist believes:

1. That the Scriptures of the Old and New Testament are divinely inspired of God and constitute the only divine rule of Christian faith and practice.

2. There is only one God- Who is Perfect and alone deserving of worship.

3. The Trinity- the Father, Son and Holy Ghost- are three in one "undivided in essence and co-equal in power and glory."

4. Jesus Christ is fully God and fully man.

5. All men have become totally depraved due to the fall from innocence by Adam and Eve.

6. Through the suffering and death, the Lord Jesus Christ made atonement for the whole world and that "whosoever will" may be saved.

7. That repentance, faith in Jesus, and regeneration by the Holy Spirit are necessary to salvation.

8. That we are justified by grace through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.

9. "That continuance in a state of salvation depends upon continued obedient faith in Christ."

10. It is the privilege of all believers to be "wholly sanctified."

11. In the immortality of the soul, the resurrection of the body, judgment at the end of the world, eternal happiness of the righteous and the endless punishment of the wicked.

The Mission Statement of the Salvation Army "http://www.salvationarmy.org" is:

"The Salvation Army, an international movement, is an evangelical part of the universal Christian Church.

Its message is based on the Bible. Its ministry is motivated by the love of God. Its mission is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human needs in His name without discrimination."
