Football Season

Grandpa has many stories to tel you about. I like to sit at his knee and hear all his tales being told through his memory. Here are a few more of his funny analagies. Grandpa really likes his football. He wil sit in front of the television for a whole two hours before the game starts! He will call out to FAY, my younger sister, to bring him a beer. The game will start. He will then yell "FAY, did you see that ball fly through the air?" Remeber that the capitol words are the pronounciation. FAY means fly. This is a way to help you remember the meaning of the word. You just associate it with the story.

Grandpa and FAY love to watch football together. They love it when their team has WON the game! Of course, who would love it if their team lost? I ask you a silly question! Do you have a silly answer for me? WON means Ask.

I like to intrude on their football time together. I ask all kinds of silly questions. Things like "was that a homerun?" They just yell at me without looking away from the tv to GO ON. I do just that. I GO ON and close the door behind me. It is the only way to soften the sound of the game on the telly. GO ON? Well, it means close.

From the next room as I read I hear them yelling. I assume that it is at the television. As I hear things like "SEE! I told him not to do that!" Since it is Grandpa yelling and FAY is the only one in the room, I assume he is not talking about her, but the players. See means wash. After hearing some of the expletives from FAYS mouth I am shocked she doesn't get her mouth washed out with soap!

Then the game will finally be over. Thank Goodness. If they win I hear Grandpa and FAY yell out "YOW hoo! They won this time!" YOW means take as in time, take your time, etc.

The game is over as is this story. Not much to it funny wise, but I hope you learned something! The words we went over today are as follows.

1. FAY- Fei- fly 2. WON- wen- ask 3. GO ON- guan- close 4. SEE- xi- wash 5. YOW- yao- take time
