Meet Max Elliot Anderson: Reluctant Reader, Super Series Writer

© Sue Reichard

Max Elliot Anderson's writing career began when he had to write scripts for his video production career. He has had the distinction of shooting, directing and producing more than 500 commercials for True Value Hardware. His success has garnered him local, regional and national awards. He also had the privilege of filming Liam Neeson in his first film, "Pilgrim's Progress." Max won Best Cinematographer for this film (and we all know what happened to Liam Neeson!)

As a youngster, Max never enjoyed reading even though his father authored over 70 books. Through hard work and perserverance he made it through college and graduated with a degree in psychology. Max decided to undertake his own personal research project to help him understand why he did not enjoy reading. He discovered that the books he read as a boy were written in a style he did not like. Max set out to write books that would appeal to reluctant readers.

Max's Tweener Series are great adventure books published by Tweener Press. They are just the books needed for this unique group. His books are fast-paced with plenty of dialogue and humor. They are full of adventure with interesting characters. While Max's books are aimed at boys 8-13 years of age who do not like to read, they are enjoyed by a wide audience that includes girls, older teens and even adults. The themes of the Tweener Series inlcude honor, honesty, keeping one's word, friendship and forgiveness. The main element is however, the importance of God in one's life. Max's books have received high acclaim and have been called "the bridge between the visual and the printed page."

Please read Max's great books for excellent examples of craft, excellent examples of what reluctant readers enjoy and excellent examples of character development, fast-pacing and great dialogue.

The Tweener Series includes these titles:

"Terror at Wolf Lake" Eddy Thompson was a cheater. But something that happened at Wolf Lake changed his life forever.

"Newspaper Caper" Friendship and humor and a paper route provide fun and mystery for 3 friends.

"North Woods Poachers" Andy is tired of his families same old vacation. Andy gets what he wishes for but not in the way he planned.

"Mountain Cabin Mystery" A long awaited camping trip for Scott and his friends provides much more adventure than they bargain for.

"Big Rig Rustlers" When vacationing at their aunt and uncle's cattle ranch, Todd and Amanda discover why stealing is wrong and rumors deadly.
