Animals have a very big influence on the lives of children. After all, how often do you see them horsing around? What about all that monkey business? Sometimes don't they just go plain hog wild! Now kids can fight obesity and tap into their inner animal thanks to a trio of partying primates, the Monkeydoos, in the launch of their new first direct-to video DVD and VHS release produced by multi-award-winning Thinkeroo.

Thinkeroo, best known for their Way Cool Science for Kids series of DVDs, launches The Monkeydoos Movement and Learning Series to encourage kids to get up off the sofa and move to the music. Recommended for ages two and older, the initial titles, "Gallop, Hop & Stomp" and "Pedal, Paddle and Twirl" will be available nationwide February 22, 2005 for a suggested retail price of $14.95 for the VHS or the DVD. DVD Bonus extras include: healthy nutritious snacks, backyard games and easy-to-do hands-on craft projects based on the program theme.

"Gallop, Hop & Stomp" gets children using their entire bodies to simulate physical movements made by different animals found in the wild. Physical movement, especially when started at younger ages, has proven to develop motor and coordination skills that lead to prolonged health, emotional well-being, potential for improved academic performance, accelerated social adaptation and increased energy. In a series of fun activities set to upbeat original songs, host Maureen Straub and her simian friends Flip, Tumble and Twist take viewers into their make-believe jungle to hop like frogs, climb like monkeys and stomp like elephants.

The DVD combines live action footage of children and animals, and computer animation to teach the various movements. Many of the songs focus on one particular animal, like the tiger or the hummingbird. "Crocodile Hunt" leads a safari into the depths of the jungle to find the elusive reptile, hopping, swimming, climbing and chopping along the way. Kids use their whole bodies in "Look Through my Spyglass" as they gallop like zebras, hop like frogs, and slither like snakes. "Flamingos" works the fundamentals of balance. Even tongues get a workout in "Jungle Frogs"!

Children will twirl, float and pedal in "Pedal, Paddle and Twirl" as they pretend to be a helicopter, a hot air balloon and ride a bicycle in the tour De France. Kids will also enjoy the movement and motion of a variety of things that go. Songs include: "Little Red Scooter", "Whizzy the Helicoopter", "My Magic Bicycle", "The Trolley Named Polly" and much more.
