Kids TV 2004: 15/Love to Brady's Beasts

15/Love
YTV
Mondays at 7:00 pm, and Sundays at 6:30 pm
Premieres September 6

Cascadia is a sports academy for the athletic prodigies of tomorrow. With top notch coaches, this idyllic Quebec countryside school sound great in the brochure. However, its not as great as it might seem. With millions of dollars at stake, and reputations on the line, the teens at Cascadia live under permanent stress. Either they reach greatness, or they're set to be a nobody. In the premiere, the new students vie for the best dorm room, while Cody discovers she was meant to be the school journalist.

Filled with sport and romance, this edgy Canadian made comedy-drama has been called by YTV "Dawson's Creek meets the U.S. Open."

Note, the two first-billed stars of the show (Vadim Schneider as Sébastien, Jaclyn Linetsky as Megan) died earlier this year in a car crash; I'm curious to see how this will be approached in the show. Also stars Max Walker as Squib, Laurence Leboeuf as Cody, and Meaghan Rath as Adena.

6Teen
Teletoon
Sundays at 6:00 pm ET/PT
Premieres November 7

An original Teletoon production by Canada's Nelvana, 6Teen is an animated series set entirely in a shopping mall. Six 16-year-olds cope in their first jobs, first crushes, and their first tastes of freedom. On the writing cast are amazing rising comedian Sean Cullen of the undeservedly short-lived The Sean Cullen Show, and George Westerholm from the crew of This Hour Has 22 Minutes.

Anne of Green Gables: The Animated Series
PBS
Sundays at 7:00 PM
Premieres September 6

This series follows the adventures of the irrepressible Anne Shirley, whose independent spirit and impetuous nature makes Avonlea an exciting place to live. The well loved characters of Avonlea are all on hand - Gilbert Blythe, Matthew and Marilla Cuthbert, Diana Barry and Rachel Lynde - but so too are fairies, wood nymphs and goblins; all products of Anne's fertile imagination.

This series has actually air since 2000 or so, on Canadian and other international channels. As far as I know, this is PBS' first regular prime time airing of a children's series.

Coming in early 2005...
Debuting in early 2005 on YTV are Being Ian and Brady's Beasts.
