Pirates Of The Caribbean: The Series At a Walt Disney Company shareholders' meeting, Walt Disney Studios president Bob Iger announced plans to build on
various Disney franchises. Along with Lilo and Stitch, Pirates of the Caribbean was of major note. Iger made reference to the two Pirates of the
Caribbean theatrical features in development, and a proposed, but not yet officially announced, television series.
Though he didn't go into any extensive detail, it certainly is an interesting concept. Back a while ago, Disney's ABC failed at
another epicly-proportioned family-oriented television series, Dinotopia; one can only hope such a series is more of a success. Zeroman! Leslie Nielsen is currently busy recording his voice for the title role of the upcoming series, Zeroman,
according to the Los Angeles Daily News. The series stars a "mild-mannered" postman/superhero, and his mother, voiced by Doris Roberts. Commenting on the
show, laden with humor for kids and adults, Nielsen commented that "[w]e do some things that have a double meaning. The fact that it's animation, oddly enough, lets you
get away with saying a lot of things because your audience says, 'This is just a cartoon.' "
Duel Masters rather successful While we're talking about Hasbro, Duel Masters will soon embark on a 15-city shopping mall tour across North
America. Scholastic is starting to write a line of books based on the property, Dreamwave launched a comic book last fall, and its almost a sure bet that Atari will develop a
GameBoy video game. The series airs in the US (Cartoon Network), Europe, and Australia.
Transformers: Two Decades of Disguise This year, the Transformers craze is 20 years old. The saga, now focusing in on Transformers Energon airs on the
cartoon network, is a Dreamwave comic which sold 2 million copies last year alone, and became an Atari developed Playstation video game this May. Hasbro has licenses
with Amercian Greetings for gift wrap and greeting cards, and Dorling Kindersley (US) and Egmont (Europe) for publishing. Also, "the Transformers brand continues
to resonate with the 18-to-35 age group", according to Hasbro. Late this month, early next month, expect to see an article on the anniversary of the legendary
series.
Muppet Oz put off until later Now that Disney owns the rights to Jim Henson's Muppets, the crew was rumored to star in a telefilm called Muppets of Oz. The
special, featuring Nick Lachey and Jessica Simpson, who would play Dorothy, has been put on the backburner for now, and likely won't air until next year. Hopefully it
