Apr 21, 2004
At a recent shareholder's meeting in Philadelphia, Dick Cook, head of
Walt Disney Studios, announced or reannounced the following features and
television series for Disney and its divisions. All of these titles are
in development, or in most cases already in production, and will be released
in the coming years.
Threatically released animated features
-
Home On The Range, April 14, 2004, in theatres now.
-
Chicken Little, 2005, a CGI-movie, described as an outrageous
comedy. A rough, full trailer was shown at the Disney 2004 shareholder
meeting, and can be seen on the Brother Bear DVD.
-
The Incredibles, 2005, Disney's second last co-production
with Pixar, starring a family of superheroes
-
A Day With Wilbur Robinson, a CGI-movie, based on a concept
by the creator of Rolie Polie Olie
-
Cars, 2006, the swan song for Disney/Pixar, unless
Michael Eisner resigns. It will be previewed in the trailers before
The
Incredibles.
-
Rapunzel Unbraided, a CGI-movie headed by animator Glen Keane
(characters including Ariel and the Beast), its a slightly modernized retelling
of the classic fairy tale.
-
American Dog, a CGI-movie
-
Toy Story 3, which as like Toy Story 2, may be switched
from a direct-to-video release to a theatrically one. Interestingly enough,
this feature will is in development at Walt Disney Feature Animation, not
Pixar. Commenting on the controlling of the Pixar library of films, Cook
announced "new and exciting movies and products based on those wonderful
stories, including Toy Story 3, now in development at Walt Disney Feature
Animation".
-
One for Sorrow, Two for Joy, based on the new book of the
same name, set in Birddom, where a Robin overcomes the odds to save the
town from the evil Magpies. For more on the feature, see 3D
Animated Feature News.
Direct-to-Video
-
Mickey, Donald and Goofy's The Three Musketeers stars the
comedic trio as the legendary French swordsmen. A preview of this great
looking feature is available on the Disney DVD and video of Brother
Bear.
-
Pooh's Heffalump Movie features the imaginary monsters that
have haunted Pooh in featurettes past. A preview of this feature is available
on the Disney DVD and video of Springtime with Roo.
-
Bambi II, which appears will be a direct-to-video release;
this is deemed by most animation fans as the most dreaded project ever,
besides the now defunct sequels to Pinocchio and Snow White.
Live Action Projects
-
This year, Disney and its subsiduaries are yet to release King Arthur,
M Night Shyamalan's The Village,
The Princess Diaries
II. Hildago, The Alamo,
