One Year Already?

One year?

Is it really?

Wow. One year ago today, my first column in Suite 101 was published.

My "bi-weekly" column was always supposed to be Children's Television. Since then, I've widened my view of the world to Children's, Youth, and Family Television, DVDs, Movies, Literature and Related Paraphernalia. But, I figure that's nine too many words, and I'm probably right.

Thousands of you supposedly read my column every month. I'd tell exact numbers, but under my Suite contract, I'd have to kill you, so I won't. But of all you thousands, no one contacts me! Okay, so I've not been controversial about anything, and I've not had any blatant errors in my articles, but there's got to be something!

Please, e-mail me at beaubeaver@yahoo.co.uk, drop me a line. Tell me what shows you want to see reviews of, who you want me to interview. What do you like about my column, what don't you like. Without your feedback, I can only guess what you want to read.

Got a question about a current or old kids TV show? Ask me, I'll answer.

Like I started off saying in my first article, "I guess [I] could say that I don't want this to be my column, instead I want it to be ours." And yes, in that original article, I forgot to include "I", and no one told me.

Year two?

Well, I'm certainly more comfortable writing now, than I ever was before. So expect to see more reviews of TV shows and DVDs.

A special feature this year is Sesame 35, where I'll profile another character, element, or piece of Sesame Street history, as the world marks the anniversary of the kids show to change all kids' shows.

And yes, in the coming days and weeks, I will get around to those early promises, including a review of ZOOM!, just heading into its sixth season, and a lighthearted look at whether there could ever be another Howdy Doody.

And no this isn't 400 words, but I'm too busy celebrating the diversity of children's television to really care.

I'd like to thank the following organizations for making my column what it is today, with either direct or indirect help, on one-time instances, or on a regular basis:

Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) - Discovery Kids (Canada) - Family Channel - NBC - Nelvana - Public Broadcasting System (PBS) - Teletoon - Treehouse-TV - WGBH (PBS Boston) - WNED (PBS Buffalo-Toronto) - YTV

Studios and Distributors
Anchor Bay Entertainment - Bagdasarian Productions - Blue Skies Media - Britt Allcroft Company - Disney - HIT Entertainment - Klasky Csupo - Pixar Animation Studios - Production Associates Inc. - Sesame Workshop
