Vancouver-based Studio B has produced programs like "Yvon of the Yukon", "What About Mimi?", "Something Else" and "D'Myna Leagues", all airing the world over. Currently, Studio B is in production on 26 half-hour episodes of "Being Ian" for YTV (Canada). It's co-producing "Yakkity Yak", who as you can see below has taken off, being aired world-wide. Currently in development, "Flakes", "Simon Stimple" and "Class of the Titans" are all promising upcoming shows from the studio.

In this article, I talk about all these successful series and more.

Happy Birthday Studio B!

Yakkity Yak to hit Nick soon, worldwide

An international co-production between Vancouver's Studio B Productions and Australia's Kapow Pictures, "Yakkity Yak" has been sold to Nickelodeon channels in the US, UK, Australia/New Zealand, Latin America and Europe. You can currently tune into Yakkity on Nickelodeon in the US, in Australia on Nickelodeon or Channel 10, and on Teletoon in Canada. The series will start to air on Nickelodeon UK, Latin America and Europe early this year.

"Yakkity Yak" is animated completely in Flash, by Australian animation house Kapow Pictures. It's that studio's first television show and Studio B's first production to be completely Flash-animated.

Studio B Productions partner and co-founder, Blair Peters said "We are very excited about the launch of this series on Nickelodeon. The show is already a hit with kids in Canada and Australia and we're hopeful that European, US and Latin American audiences will enjoy it just as much."

The series, featuring the adventures of Yakkity (an aspiring teenage comedian who is a yak) who dreams of seeing his name in lights and is the class clown in his hometown of Onion Falls. Lovably oblivious and easily misguided, Yakkity strives to shine as the next comic superstar. Watch for 52 new episodes, coming soon, to a TV near you.

Studio B says "Roll'em" on Being Ian

Animated entirely in Flash, "Being Ian" will being hitting televisions fall 2004. Designed by legendary animator Marv Newland, the tween-targetted series follows the adventures of Ian Kelly — his incredible imagination, fascination for films, quirky family, and kooky life. He try to balance on the fine line inbetween fufilling his aspirations, and getting detentions.

This series will air in Canada on YTV, and in Spain, Andorra and Portugal on LUK Internacional SA.

"We’re very pleased with the quality of animation coming out of Studio B," says David Henden, Vice President International, LUK Internacional. Being Ian is based on a premise that is very universal "a boy who loves films and can’t help directing the world around him."
