Annie Award nominees for animation© Nicholas Moreau
Jan 15, 2004
The Annual Annie Awards
isn't something that really excites too many people. It's not the sort
of thing that gets in the news too much, unlike the Oscars, Primetime and
Daytime Emmys, Grammys, People's Choice Awards, Billboards, or Canadian
Geminis, Junos and Genies. Why? Because the Annies are for accomplisments
in animation, an award show filled with categories made of terms that the
average layman hasn't heard of.
But if you're into animation,
just children's television, they're worth a look.
The 31st Annual Annie Awards
will be handed out on February 7th, at the Alex Theatre in Glendale. The
founder of animation's most prestigious award, the ASIFA-Hollywood says
"Originally designed to honor the lifetime achievements of legendary veterans
of the field, the Annie Awards are now awarded in competition for the year's
best animation efforts, recognizing oustanding productions in feature films,
videos, television programs, commercials, animated interactive productions,
as well as individual achievement by artists, writers and voice talent.
Members participate in the nomination process and final voting. "
I've included just the awards
related to television, and may I note, not all programs are for kids. For

is the place to go.
