My Hero - Weekends at midnight on BBC Kids, starts September 1
Making its Canadian premiere, this sitcom has "Father Ted"'s Ardel O’Hanlon as George Sunday, a man whose life would be perfectly normal except for one thing: Sunday is also Thermoman, a superhero from the planet Ultron. Best described as Superman meets Mork and Mindy, Sunday dashes from one catastrophe to another as he juggles his two worlds - that of superhero and that of an unassuming proprietor of a London health food store who’s married to a nurse named Janet.
My Parents Are Aliens - Weekdays at 5:30 pm ET/PT, starts September 1
The three Johnson kids are shocked to learn -- gasp -- their parents really are aliens. They quickly learn that, in order to stay together, the family is going to have to reinvent the traditional rules of the house. The show won the prestigious Banff Rockie Award for Best Children’s Program in 2001. The show has been shown before in North America, but never in its original English language format.
Open Your Ears - Weekdays at 5:25 pm, Saturdays at 9:55 am, and Sundays at 11:55 on TVO, starts September 1
Jennifer, the musical host of this combined TV and Web project, introduces you to everyday sounds "the music in everyday life" all you have to do is Open Your Ears to hear it! In the television series, Jennifer demystifies basic musical principles and correlates them to everyday life. Kids can expand their understanding of these concepts online through lots of fun and interactive sites and even compose and record their own songs and send them back to TVO Kids.
The Raven - Weekends at 11:30 am EST on BBC Kids, starts September 6
It's the North American premiere of this program; part game show, part drama. There's only one goal: avoid being eliminated by the Raven and remain the "last one standing." Six players compete to survive the challenges and stay in play; each week, they're faced by a series of games and tests.
