Sunburn ReliefThere are several good sun protection products on the market, many geared specifically to children. Unfortunately parents, kids, and even babysitters forget about them and accidents happen from time to time. Sunburn treatments can not take away the harm caused by the sun, but they can offer relief from tight, uncomfortable skin. IMPORTANT NOTE: SERIOUS SUNBURNS MAY REQUIRE MEDICAL ATTENTION. BLISTERS, ESPECIALLY RAW SKIN, OR ANY BURN THAT CAUSES FEVER NEEDS TO BE TREATED BY A PHYSICIAN. Solarcaine Aloe Extra Burn Relief was the first product I looked at in regards to burn care. People who've used this product had one complaint...you need to reapply it too often. For serious burn relief users recommended every 20 - 30 minutes. At $7 a bottle, I believe this product is the most expensive considering how much product will be used for one burn. On the other hand, it might be the most worth for the money for serious burn sufferers. While many products only treat minor sunburn, this deals with most burns and also treats insect bites and small cuts. The aloe vera component aids in healing, while the Lidocaine has a numbing effect. Coppertone Aloe Aftersun Moisturizing Lotion was the second product reviewed. Although it is not as useful for more serious sunburns, Coppertone put another great product onto the market with Aftersun Moisturizing Lotion. At $6 it seems just a bit less inexpensive than the Solarcaine product, but users said they only needed to apply it four or five times a day. Skin is treated for pain and peeling through the aloe vera and vitamin e contained in Aftersun. This would be your best bet for general sunburn treatment. The third product looked over was Banana Boat Sooth A Caine Aloe Vera Gel. Hardly anyone who used this product liked it. Priced at $6 it was still more expensive than Coppertone's Aftersun because it needed reapplication every two hours. It did not absorb into the skin like the earlier products, but dried onto the sunburn causing even more pain and uncomfortability. Useful only for minor burns, and hard to remove even with warm, soapy water, this product is not recommended. For hundreds of years people have been using aloe vera to treat cuts and burns, so it is no surprise that each of these products contains the natural healing ingredient. However, the amount used and the other ingredients determine how well that aloe vera will work for you. Some people choose to skip the mystery of commercial products and head straight to the source, using pure aloe vera. This is available in both liquid or gel.
