The Baby Einstein Company is interested in stimulating the minds of young children. The use of videos, books, puppets, and CDs can aid development in parts of the brain that don't receive much regular use. Unfortunately too many parents take the wrong approach to the products, or don't pay attention to age guidelines.
Baby Einstein offers 6 videos: Baby Einstein, Baby Mozart, Baby Bach, Baby Van Gough, Baby Shakespeare, and Baby Santa. The age guidelines for the videos range from 1 year to four years. Available in a variety of formats, including DVD, you can expect to pay $15 - $19. Baby Einstein is simply a way to introduce the different sounds found in other languages. This is not a language instruction video! One woman's misconception of the video leads to money lost... http://www.epinions.com/mvie-review-69AE... Baby Mozart and Baby Bach focus on the introduction of different sounds in the way of classical music. These videos are for children aged 1-4. Again, these videos are not to teach your child to recognize Mozart or distinguish between composers. They are to offer the calming effect that classical music has on the human mind. Baby Van Gough is set up into 6 sections, each one focusing on a different color. Van Gough's paintings are used to demonstrate the colors, and classical music and poetry are found throughout the video. Puppets are also used to keep children's attention and help teach them the difference between colors. Baby Shakespeare is an introduction of classical poets. Classical music and nature photography are used to keep children's interest. Puppets perform in this video as well. Baby Santa is an introduction to different cultures. It highlights traditions in various countries. Again, the age guidelines start at 1 year and go up to 4 years. These videos aren't just for entertainment. They are for interaction as well. This requires a parent to be involved with the viewing process and helps adults get used to being involved in the television their child watches. The Baby Einstein Company offers several other products based on the videos. Ranging in age from birth (for the CDs) to 3 months (for the puppets) these products can be used for children who are much younger. Later, familiarity with these items make the videos even more enjoyable for a child. CDs At this time 7 CDs are available: 5 revolving around classical music and composers, one holiday music CD, and one language CD. Prices are in the $10-$15 range. Age appropriateness is from birth on up. Go To Page: 1 2
