That is not to say that he became a model student, but gradually Richard acquired enough musical knowledge and experience to begin writing his operas and his books. A rough beginning to an illustrious career.

WEB SITES (ratings are given as related to biographical information)

The best looking sites I could find were not in English, so, with one exception, are not listed here. There is a great deal of information about Wagner's operas, very little information (in English) about the man himself.

http://www.zazz.com/wagner/biography.html Biographical Chronology and Family Tree (3 stars) This site, in addition to the family tree, is a time line of Wagner's life. It is very brief as to information, as time lines are, but a nice overview as a place to start.

http://home.no.net/wagner/chrono.html The life and times of Wagner - a comparative chronology (3 stars) Another time line, with some important historical data along side that relating to Wagner's life.

http://www.lucidcafe.com/library/96may/w... Richard Wagner, German Opera Composer (3 stars) One of the few biographies of Wagner in English on the net. However, it is extremely short, consisting of only a few paragraphs.

http://www.ipl.org/exhibit/mushist/rom/w... Richard Wagner (2 stars) Again, a brief biography, which focuses mostly on Wagner's music.

http://lucia.stanford.edu/opera/Wagner/m... Wilhelm Richard Wagner (2 stars) Here is a set of links that takes you to information about most of Wagner's operas. There is little information about Wagner himself.

http://www.geocities.com/Vienna/Strasse/... Richard Wagner Homepage (1 stars) This site may be great for someone interested in learning about Wagner's operas, but for those looking for biographical information, this is not the site for you!
