Dave's Rescue and Recovery

The last straw for his teachers was when 12-year-old Dave came to school with no skin on his arms because he had been forced to soak them in ammonia. At that point, several teachers put their jobs on the line and called the police. Dave was rescued, and stayed in five foster homes in about six years. Through all of this Davd tried to learn how to be a "normal" person. In the end, with the help of others, he found ways to make a life for himself, eventually forgiving his parents and finding ways to advocate for abused children. Dave's first book, A Child Called "It", was nominated for the Pulitzer Prize. he has written 5 other books, including The Lost Boy and A Man Named Dave.
