Families of Two -- Book Review

A particular recurring theme in most of the couples discussion is that without children, they have more time to concentrate on their relationship -- and to pursue goals that otherwise they may not have. And every couple seems to be aware that having a good marriage means working at it, spending quality time alone together, communicating openly and always trying to be supportive and understanding toward one another's lifetime goals. This is different to a married couple with children who often make children almost the entire focus of their lives. I think those who are married with children could learn a great deal about good marriages from this book also, particularly as children DO become adults and leave their parents alone together again.

In conclusion, I would have to agree with one of the women's comment on what marriage is about. Carla says, "People have the urge to bond. We marry to joyously announce to the world that we're bonded."
