On a lighter note, the rash of female celebrities lately having babies -- Madonna, Demi Moore, Pamela Lee -- have tried to give moms a sexy image. However, a humorous article in The Denver Post by Karen Koman (August 24, 1997) makes the point that the average woman is not a pampered celebrity, nor rich enough to be glamorous in the role of mother. She writes about this humorously: "If my husband were to sense sexuality emanating from me on a given day, good luck getting to it. He'd have to fight his way through a chubby baby - think of her as cheap outerwear; a clingy 4-year old - leg coverings; and a somewhat caustic 6-year-old - bad headgear. In the trade, this is known as head-to-toe chastity wear without having to resort to pharmaceuticals. Sure, I could have benefited from the fleet of nannies, personal assistants and trainers that all the Hollywood glamour moms have. Maybe then my "new mom sexuality'' would have had a chance to take root and flourish. Like they say, "Only in Hollywood.'' All this is not to say that some childed marriages are unhappy or lacking intimacy...for sometimes if both want children, I'm sure that their lives, and marriages, are enriched by the presence of children. But on the other hand, just because someone doesn't want children doesn't necessarily mean they don't want a good, happy marriage. There is an infamous, humorous piece written by an anonymous person which has appeared in Ann Landers in the past, and it can be read by clicking on the title: The Childless Couple. Go To Page: 1 2
