Apples Everywhere
Here are some fun ideas for a lively apple theme. They have come from all different sources over the years. Apple Game “Worm Through the Apple” game. Children stand in line with feet spread apart approximately 18” apart. One child, the worm, crawls through the apple (their legs). Let children take turns being the worm. Johnny Appleseed Hats For each headband, you will need: One 9 x 13 construction-paper rectangle 1 black construction-paper headband 1 apple cutout Have each child glue the apple cutout to the center of his headband. Staple the band to fit the child's head. Have him round one end of the construction-paper rectangle to resemble a pot handle. Have him use an apple-shaped hole puncher to punch a hole in the rounded end of the handle. Fold down one inch of the opposite end of the handle to create a gluing tab. Help the child glue the handle to the headband. Apple Hop Take apple patterns and laminate (letters or numbers can be put on them for recognition skills). Children can then hop, jump, giant step from apple to apple. Apple Tree Game Use red, green, & yellow milk caps for apples in an apple tree. Use a permanent marker to put a number on each milk cap and one on each apple in the tree. Younger children will just match because they recognize the number two on the milk cap looks like the number two on the tree. But they still will be learning. (one-to-one correspondence). Create an Orchard Have the students work in small groups to design their own 'Mini Apple Orchard". Fill a pan with dirt, twigs, toy tractors, green sponges for apple trees with red tissue for apples, or anything the children can come up with as ideas for their orchards. Go To Page: 1
