Make pictures of each stage of the day for the wall or bulletin board. If you keep to a routine, then each child can refer to the pictures and know what will come next. You might include circle time, snack, free play, lunch, nap, and departure time. Knowing where a child is in their day helps eliminate the resistance to changing activities.

With a little patience, and some creative planning, transition times can go smoothly for all the children in your program.
