November part 4Ok, well I hope you all are ready for Thanksgiving, and that you all have wonderful plans with family and friends. Ok, lets get right to it. Since it is easy to find many recipes for different types of desserts, I think that instead of offering the typical pies and cakes, I will offer some variations on the recipes that you yourself can find. So without further ado, here are some variations that you can try yourself: APPLE PIE: Get a recipe for apple pie, or of course feel free to use your own. In order to Jazz it up a little bit, try adding either dried cranberries or cherries, or take half of the apples needed for the recipe, and replace with sliced pears. This will give richer flavor and a little different kick. Finally, for something completely different, try replacing the apples with ground lamb mixed with raisins and cinnamon, cumin, nutmeg, and honey. This will be a savory variation of the norm. ICE CREAM: Take your favorite flavor of ice cream, and blend well in a food processor. To this add about half as much whipped cream as the amount of ice cream that you have. To this, add chopped walnuts or crushed cookies, and whip well. Place into an oreo cookie pie crust, and refreeze. Serve like pie, with whipped cream! PUMPKIN PIE: For a couple of different variations, try using sweet potatoes instead of the pumpkin. Also, adding chopped walnuts to the mix will give an interesting crunch to the pie, as well as adding flavor. Finally, try adding 2 pinches cayenne pepper to the mix to spice it up a little. Well, I apologize for the brevity, but I hope that you all enjoy your holiday season. Next month I will discuss some possible end of the year holiday recipes. ENJOY!
