Trinity College, Dublin The School of Irish offers an undergraduate degree in Early and Modern Irish. It is also possible to combine either Early Irish or Modern Irish with other degrees, or to do a degree in Computing Science with Linguistics and Irish. The school also offers a 2-year taught MPhil in Early Irish, which includes a dissertation of about 20,000 words. It is possible to do a research degree (either an MLitt or a PhD) through the school. The Centre for Medieval and Renaissance Studies also offers an MPhil in Medieval Language, Literature and Culture, which can include study of Old Irish if you wish. University College, Cork (National University of Ireland, Cork) The Faculty of Celtic Studies offers A BA and a taught MA in Celtic Studies. The Department of Modern Irish offers an undergraduate degree in Irish as a single or joint subject, an MA in Modern Irish and an MPhil and a PhD. The Department of Early and Medieval Irish does not offer any undergraduate degrees, though they do offer a taught MA in Early and Medieval Irish, an MPhil and a PhD. For both departments, the MA are taught courses and are generally a year long, and the MPhil is a research program running two years. Presumably the PhD courses are three years. University College, Dublin (National University of Ireland, Dublin) The Faculty of Celtic Studies offers a variety of opportunities. An undergraduate degree in Celtic Studies is offered by the faculty. The faculty actually has six separate departments, including Early Irish Language and Literature, Modern Irish and Welsh, all of which offer more focused degrees, which can be combined with other subjects. There are also numerous postgraduate degrees available through the faculty. These include the 1-year taught MA, the 2-year taught MPhil, the 2-year research MLitt, and the research PhD, which are available from several subjects, including Celtic Studies, Irish (Early and Medieval Irish, Nua-Ghaeilge or Gaeilge Chlasaiceach), Welsh, Irish Studies and Medieval Studies.
