NBC Secured Execs at the peacock network were a little worried about Tom Brokaw leaving. He'll stay on to anchor the nightly news until 2004. At that time, Brian Williams will take over. Williams was a prime candidate for anchor jobs at the competing networks, which also gave NBC a bit of a sweat. Now, though, the network is solid. Katie Couric and Matt Lauer just inked new contracts. Tom's staying for a while and Brian will be in for the longhaul.
