The World is Shaken The Emmys, Latin Grammys, production of The Tonight Show, Friends and many other shows and movies have halted production after the terrorist attacks on New York, at the Pentagon and in Pennsylvania Tuesday morning.

A spokesperson for the Latin Grammys issued this statement Tuesday: "Due to the unimaginable events that have occurred this morning, the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences, the Latin Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences and CBS have cancelled tonight's second annual Latin Grammy Awards show."

Not long after that, a second statement was issued by CBS regarding the Emmys: "We are watching this tragedy unfold on television with everyone else today with the deepest sadness. Therefore, out of respect to the victims, their families and our fellow citizens, the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences and the CBS Televison Network will postpone the 53rd Prime-Time Emmy Awards." Everything related to the Emmys has been cancelled, including the Television Academy reception and ball and the Directors Guild and Writers Guild receptions.

Disney and Universal both shut down their theme parks temporarily. Fashion Week has also been called off. Broadway's theaters postponed all shows. The Toronto International Film Festival cancelled all activities.

With courthouses in Los Angeles closing, a preliminary hearing for Paula Poundstone's child abuse case was delayed.

Madonna cancelled her concert for Tuesday night. So did many other musical acts.

Major League Baseball games have been postponed indefinitely. The PGA tour has been cancelled. The National Football League is also considering whether games will be played this weekend.

ESPN, MTV, QVC and other similar cable stations interrupted their regular programming to provide viewers with breaking news coverage.

The death tolls of Tuesday's attack could reach into the thousands.

Sean Penn Loves His Friends What does Phoebe's twin sister need? A boyfriend. Sean Penn will now play Ursula's beau to Lisa Kudrow's other character. He'll be joining the cast of Friends for a recurring role. While he was scheduled to be on the set this week, production of the show has been pulled due to the tragedies Tuesday. Sean's big on ripping his fellow celebs from "selling out." Nicolas Cage, his former bud, was one of the targets of Sean's ill comments. "As damaged as I am, as reckless as I've been, I never murdered my own 'voice,'" he said. There's no official word when his Friends episodes will air. But the hit show is known for snagging big guest stars during sweeps. That would indicate you can tune into Sean on NBC during November.
