Scoop for the Week of August 24th

Richard Grieco
Survivor Cuffed...Again Original Survivor winner Richard Hatch is back in the news this week. The million-dollar winner was arrested after an ex-boyfriend filed a domestic assault charge against him. The man, Glenn Boyowski, filed a complaint against Rich in Middletown, Rhode Island. A warrant for his arrest was issued and Rich was later released on $1,000 bond. His manager says he was never arrested but Rich's lawyer, Christopher Behan, says he was just defending himself. According to Behan, the accuser attempted to get into Rich's home so he pushed him out of his house. Rich apparently went down to the courthouse to get a restraining order against the man and that's when he found out there was a warrant for his own arrest. He immediately surrendered to police and maintains that he's completely innocent of these charges. Rich says "I was dating him, stopped dating him about two and half months ago...and he had learned I was having a friend come in from out of town. He heard that and kind of flipped out." He says on the night of the incident he was sitting at home with his adopted son and his friend when "this guy comes flying over in a van, screeches up the driveway, screeches to a halt and comes running up the stairs trying to get in my front door. I blocked him and pushed him away. He comes storming back up, I grabbed him and pushed back and he left." You'll recall that Rich was arrested last year shortly after he won a cool million on Survivor. His adopted son claimed that Rich forced the nine-year-old to go running at 4:30 a.m. When the boy disobeyed, he says his father grabbed him by the ear and neck. The charges were later dropped and Rich sued Middletown police and state officials for false arrest and for removing his child from his home. The false arrest claims were just dropped last week. The judge did decide that he could go forward on the invasion of privacy suit.

In Case You're Worried, She's Okay Mariah Carey wants her fans to know she's doing just fine. The recorded message was posted on her official Web site after fans wrote and sent her gifts following her recent breakdown. The entire transcript of her call follows: "Okay, this is a message for my fans. And I just want to say thank you sooo much for all the letters, and everything that I got from you. I want you to know you definitely can't believe everything you read. And, um, thank you, because I am taking care of myself, and as we speak, or as I speak to you, I'm looking at the most beautiful rainbow that is going across the entire sky, and I love you much! Thanks. Bye." Mariah was originally hospitalized and later diagnosed with an "emotional and physical breakdown." She surprised disadvantaged kids at Camp Mariah last week, handing out ice cream treats to the children. That was her first public appearance since she began psychiatric care.
