Scoop for the Week of May 25th
Rick Resigning? Could NYPD Blue's Detective Andy Sipowicz (Dennis Franz) be looking for - yet another - partner this fall? Rumor has it, Rick Schroder may turn in his badge and give up his role as Detective Danny Sorenson. It appears he'll be making a brief return in the new fall season but then leaving shortly after that. Rick's reps and series producer Steven Bochco deny the rumor but ABC is pulling in Saved by the Bell star Mark-Paul Gosselaar as the latest Blue hunk. Detective Sorenson's love interest, Detective Diane Russell (played by Kim Delaney), is taking a leave of absence. In reality, Kim's moved to her own show, Philly, with the promise of returning to Blue if the new gig doesn't work out. Her former partner, Jill Kirkendall (Andrea Thompson) quit acting and will be a part of CNN's summer relaunch. James McDaniel (Capt. Arthur Fancy) departed Blue last month. That makes Dennis Franz the only original cast member remaining. If Rick does leave the 15th precinct, Dennis's new partner will be his fourth since the show aired. David Caruso and Jimmy Smits portrayed his previous partners. Fonda - Free Agent Jane Fonda and Ted Turner's marriage legally came to an end after a Georgia judge granted her divorce request. Jane issued a statement through her attorney. In it, she said, "I feel sadness. We shared 10 years together, and I will always care for him. Now it's time to move on, and I wish him well." Jane didn't have such kind words to say about Ted after he blasted her newfound Christianity in The New Yorker right before they separated. "He needs someone to be there 100 percent of the time. He thinks that's love. It is not love. It's babysitting. We went in different directions. I grew up," she said. Reports initially surfaced about their marriage breakdown when Ted was accused of cheating on his wife of 10 years with a perfect 10: Bo Derek. Ted and Jane denied they were having problems but just a few months later, Jane split. This was the third marriage for them both.
