Sole Survivor
Tina Wesson, the nurse from Knoxville, Tennessee, walked away with the $1 million Survivor II: The Australian Outback prize. Colby Donaldson, whose decision to vote out chef Keith Famie instead of Tina probably cost him the loot, won second place's $100,000. The decision was announced live on-set of a mock-up tribal council in Los Angeles. Just like in the first Survivor, it was the final vote that decided the winner. CBS is considering a celebrity edition of Survivor. Comedian Ray Romano, Los Angeles Laker Kobe Bryant and actress Kate Hudson have expressed interest in participating.
Niki Taylor Hospitalized After Crash Supermodel Niki Taylor is in critical condition after the car she was traveling in slammed into a utility pole. The driver of the car says he was reaching down to answer his cell phone when he lost control of the vehicle. Niki was wearing her seatbelt and initially walked away from the crash. In fact, the driver of the vehicle and another passenger told rescuers no one needed help. But then Niki started complaining of stomach pains and has been hospitalized ever since. She's suffering from extensive internal injuries to her liver and duodenum. Doctors remain hopeful that she will recover but say it could still be weeks before a definitive prognosis can be made. While her injuries are life-threatening, Niki can open her eyes and has been responding to her family members by squeezing their hands. However, she is heavily sedated and unable to speak. Downey's Hearing Postponed Can't be in court if you're in rehab. So Robert Downey, Jr's. hearing on outstanding drug possession charges has been postponed until May 24. This appearance isn't in relation to his most recent arrest just last week. Nope. This court appearance was for his November arrest in which he was found in a hotel room with cocaine and methamphetamine. Robert was released from a prison term back in August 2000 because of a sentencing error. Ultimately, officials may decide he doubly violated the terms of his parole in his arrest last week when he was taken in after officers suspected he was under the influence of drugs. No Contest Shannen Doherty pleaded no contest to charges of drunk driving, stemming from her December 2000 arrest. She also says she did, indeed, refuse to submit to a chemical test at the time of that arrest. She'll be sentenced June 12 and the no contest plea could force her into some jail time. She is a first-time offender, though, so she will probably recieve 48 hours in jail or five days in a work-release program. Shannen initially pleaded innocent at her arraignment back in March. And her lawyer contested the results of her blood alcohol test. Prosecutors argued her blood alcohol level was 0.13 percent at the time of her arrest. California's legal limit is 0.08. Shannen was stopped after police officers witnessed her black pickup swerving across several lanes of freeway traffic.
