Celebrities negotiate for parts in movies and television shows all the time. So being passed over for a part isn't really a big deal. Unless you're passed over because you are a celebrity. That's what happened to Kate Hudson. She and her rock star hubby Chris Robinson were rejected as contestants for the upcoming installment of Survivor. Rumor has it, CBS didn't want to deal with the legal hassles that would arise from a celebrity being a contestant. Such a shame they didn't use their celeb-status to get to the head of the line for the bad news. Kate and Chris waited with the rest of Survivor III wannabes at the recent casting call in Los Angeles.
Perhaps CBS is just a little tired of lawsuits. First, original Survivor contestant Stacey Stillman slapped a lawsuit on CBS. She claimed the reality show was rigged. Then, CBS countersued. Now, CBS is battling FOX. Lawyers for CBS say FOX's new reality show Boot Camp is a direct rip off of Survivor. So they filed a copyright infringement lawsuit. FOX claims the lawsuit is "frivolous."

FOX does have a little bit of a legal edge over CBS. In November 2000, the Fox Family Channel sued CBS over a reality show that would've featured contestants racing around the world. One of CBS' execs is on record saying it's not "uncommon for multiple networks to be running similar series at the same time." He then went on to say that the similarities are clear when you look at shows like Chicago Hope (when it was a CBS hit) running at the same time of NBC's ER.
Suddenly Married Former Suddenly Susan star Brooke Shields recently wed writer/producer Chris Henchy in a quiet Catalina Island, California, ceremony. They actually met on the Suddenly Susan set. Brooke and Chris were planning on exchanging vows in Florida next month, where her father lives. The wedding even took Brooke's rep by surprise: "She just went off and got married. I don't have much more information than that." Maybe the two were inspired by Kathy Griffin's March wedding. Brooke and Chris showered the newlywed couple's bed with rose petals. This is the second marriage for Brooke. She was previously married to tennis star Andre Agassi.
