Watch It, Sharon!
Want a Golden Globe? Just buy one. That's what the Hollywood Foreign
Press Association (HFPA) thinks Sharon Stone was
trying to do. Each of its 82 members received a $400 watch from Sharon after she was
nominated for a Golden Globe. The HFPA, who has a notorious reputation for being
corrupt, immediately returned the watches. The president of HFPA is making great strides
in cleaning up the organization...which is why they returned the more than generous gifts.
And it was just 3 years ago when Sharon's Golden Globe win for best actress in
Casino was tarnished. Seems she wined and dined voters and traded personal
appearances in exchange for the HFPA underwriting her favorite charity. But they're not
completely giving up the studio freebies. They're keeping the $35 cell phones from Fine
Line pictures for Simpatico which came with a card from the film's stars...one of
them being Sharon Stone.
Hannibal's Hungry Watch your back. And every other part of you. Hannibal Lecter's on the loose. Anthony Hopkins will reprise his Oscar-winning role in the Silence of the Lambs sequel. But will Jodie Foster return as Agent Starling? After openly slamming Hannibal, the long-awaited novel sequel, she still says she's in the running for the movie version. With the recent release of her movie, Anna and the King, and keeping up with her son, Charles, Jodie's not actually starving for any on-screen roles. Sir Sean?
You can call him Sir Sean Connery. Or
can you? After being denied knighthood in 1998, London's Daily Mail says
Sean's name tops the list for the coveted U.K. honor next year. Rumor has it, his fierce
nationalism has prevented him from attaining knighthood. Sean said he was "deeply
disappointed, but strangely not angry or greatly surprised" when he was previously
denied. Since the info about his possible knighthood was leaked, we'll just have to wait
and see if you can call him Sean...Sir Sean.
