Big Brother's Influence
Woody Harrelson played his brother in EDtv but that doesn't mean Matthew McConaughey needed to take on his movie brother's ways. Matthew was busted for drugs this week in Austin, Texas. The 29-year-old actor was charged with possession of marijuana, drug paraphernalia and resisting transport. Police were responding to a noise complaint when they entered Matthew's home and found a naked man playing the bongo drums. They also say two men (one was Matthew) were in the house but would not speculate on which was the naked one. Stay tuned to MATTHEWtv to find out if this Dazed and Confused star will end up sharing a cell with Robert Downey, Jr.
Mission Not Impossible Tom Cruise didn't have his Eyes Wide Shut during a recent stunt for Mission Impossible 2. He scaled the sheer face of a Utah mountain, clinging only to the rock 1,500 feet above the ground. At one point, he lost his footing and was hanging by his hands. But don't fret. He was tethered to an emergency wire. Paramount execs thought they'd convinced Tom to scrap the sequel's opening scene. But since Tom's a co-producer, he found a way to muscle the cliff-hanging scene back in. If only Tom could do something about the flick's 43 days-behind schedule. Ford Not Flying High He may play a big action star in his movies, but Harrison Ford almost became a real life casualty. He was flying a Bell 206 helicopter in California when he was forced to make what pilots call a "hard landing" - that's the landing we know as the grab your ankles and scream for dear life. Harrison was with his flight instructor and - besides a little bit of butterflies in the stomach - neither was hurt. In an ironic twist, Harrison's current film, Random Hearts, revolves around the after-effects of a plane crash. More Like A Waltz Than A Tango
It may take Three to Tango, but it only takes one to buy a ticket. Even though their TV shows made them celebrities, they better not quit their day jobs. Neve Campbell and Matthew Perry star in Three to Tango, a comedy about mistaken sexual identity. The flick bombed at the box office, finishing a disappointing eighth and bringing in a mere $4.6 million. But it was Crazy in Alabama starring Melanie Griffith that suffered a huge box office blow. The movie, directed by Melanie's husband, Antonio Banderas, didn't even make the top 10, earning just $1 million. Perhaps the lack of ticket sales caused Melanie's fainting spell on the set of her new movie, Cecil B. Demented. But doctors say it was just low potassium. A few bananas might help.
