Nineteen's A Charm?
Nineteen may not be a lucky number for some but it holds a special place
in Susan Lucci's heart. She finally won that Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress for
playing Erica Kane on
All My Children. She even
admitted she never thought it would happen. Let's just hope this new streak continues
longer than the old one!
Rosie Shoots Down Magnum P.I.
Another big winner at the Emmy's was Rosie O'Donnell.
The Rosie O'Donnell Show won her Best Talk
Show and Best Talk Show Host. But that might not happen next year. Kmart received
over 200 angry phone calls after Rosie attacked her guest, Tom Selleck, on his NRA
stance. Those phone calls said Rosie should keep her opinion to herself. And Bernadette
Peters probably feels the same way. She's starring in
Annie Get Your Gun and was
scheduled to sing "Anything You Can Do." Apparently, Rosie said Bernadette would have
to change one line of the song: "I can shoot a partridge with a single cartridge." So
Bernadette canceled. Maybe Sharon Stone should be Rosie's next guest. The day after
Rosie's interview with Tom, Sharon turned in her guns to the police. She called up the
Beverly Hills PD and they came over and confiscated a shotgun and three handguns. One
question: Who needs a gun in Beverly Hills?
Backstreet Boy A Flunkie?
The Backstreet Boys urge their young - mainly teenager - fans to stay in school.
But what if they don't practice what they preach? One member, Nick Carter, dropped out
of school after the 10th grade. The adorable blond had a home tutor when he began his professional
career back in the 7th grade. But he doesn't have time to finish school right now. He's
always on tour. Ironically, the Backstreet
Boys (those five incredible-looking hunks) are active ambassadors for Students
Against Destructive Decisions. Don't worry about Nick, though. He won't be going
hungry any time soon. The release of their new album Millennium is
projected to hit 1.1 million units in its first week of sales...topping Garth Brooks's Double
Live record last fall of 1.08 million. Even if the album misses the mark, it will still knock
Ricky Martin's album from the number one spot.
No Diploma For Buffy
Well, it was on, off, on and now it's off again. WB pulled the last part of the
two-part finale of Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
Executives say they shelved the episode because of the sensitive timing after the
Columbine High School shootings. However, they do plan to run the episode some time in
