Home Improvement's Destruction
Eight years ago, Home Improvement hit the air. Those eight years produced 201 episodes, 20 Emmy nominations, 3 Golden Globes, 10 People's Choice Awards and a TV Guide Award. Tuesday they sign off with a 90-minute finale. Earlier in the season, Tim Allen pulled Patricia Richardson aside and asked her to do another year of the show. After a month of deciding between the two, Richardson felt it was better to bow out now...even after Allen was offered a package worth a staggering $50 million, while Richardson was offered $25 million. In the end, the answer was still, "No." The finale includes a wedding, a funeral and the ever-popular blooper reel. But the real question on the minds of HI fans is: Will the face of Tim Taylor's neighbor (Wilson) finally be seen or will he still be standing behind that fence? Over the years, a variety of objects have been used to obscure Wilson's face and Earl Hindman who plays Wilson says he hopes his mug is kept secret. But the producers shot two different versions: revealing and unrevealing. And another hot debate includes Jonathan Taylor Thomas. There are some harsh feelings between him and Tim Allen. Evidently, Jonathan left the show to go back to school but when he appeared in a couple of movies, Tim said (publicly) that he was a little confused. That left a sore point with Jonathan so he chose not to come back for the show's finale. But the show must go on. And it will Tuesday night on ABC. Moving Out of Melrose Just under the eight-year mark is Melrose Place. The show that's had more facelifts than Dick Clark is coming to an explosive end with - sound familiar? - a wedding and a funeral. Remember the first season with Doug Savant, Vanessa Williams, Josie Bissett, Thomas Calabro, Courtney Thorne-Smith, Grant Show and Andrew Shue? Later, Courtney and Josie left. Andrew left. Heather Locklear moved in. Daphne Zuniga came on board. Doug went bye-bye. Josie came back and now works with real-life husband, Rob Estes on the show. Jamie Luner, John Haymes Newton and Kelly Rutherford are now a part of Melrose. Confused yet? To sum it all up, Thomas Calabro is the only cast member who's been there the entire seven years. If your head's not spinning yet, be sure to watch Melrose Place Monday night. No-News Radio NBC is canceling News Radio. The series dodged the corporate axe before but was chopped from the lineup after ratings continue to falter. And on a related note, Andy Dick was arrested after his car crashed into a utility pole. He fled
