Celebrities Glow at Golden Globes

Celebrities of film and TV were out in full force last night at the 63rd annual Golden Globes Awards sponsored by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, California.

Brokeback Mountain As expected, the unusal and even somewhat controversial "Brokeback Mountain", dubbed the "gay cowboy love story" won four of the top awards for film drama, including Best Film Drama and Best Director. Ang Lee, the director of "Brokeback Mountain", received his award from celebrity icon, director/actor Clint Eastwood, last year's winner for "Million Dollar Baby", another somewhat controversial independent film.

Film Drama Acting Awards Other major awards in the film drama categories went to celebrities Best Actor-Drama Philip Seymour Hoffman for his astonishing portrayal of the author Truman Capote in the film "Capote", and Best Actress-Drama Felicity Huffman for her starring role in the trans-gender film "TransAmerica". Uber-celebrity, former sexiest man alive George Clooney won for his supporting acting work in the CIA Mid-East oil cartel film "Syriana" . English celebrity actress Rachel Weisz, quite beautifully pregnant. won the supporting actress award for her work in "The Constant Gardener" about pharmaceutical corruption in Africa.

Walk the Line In the Best Film Musical or Comedy category, the Johhny Cash biopic, 'Walk the Line" took top honors as Best Picture with celebrity stars Reese Witherspoon and Joachin Phoenix winning Best Actress and Best Actor awards in this category.

TV Awards Top Series Best TV drama award wnt to the series "Lost" while Best Comedy series was won again by the terrifically popular "Desperate Housewives". Both shows are broadcast on ABC. Celebrity Felicity Huffman received her second award of the evening as part of the ensemble of housewives residing on Wisteria Lane.

TV Acting Awards In terms of TV acting awards, celebrity actress Geena Davis won for her work as the first female President of the U.S. in "Commander in Chief", while Hugh Laurie won as Best Actor for his starring role as the surly, cranky doctor in the series "House". On the comedy side, new celebrity Steve Carell recently in the hit film "The 40 Year Old Virgin" won for his starring role in the English transplanted series "The Office". Well known celebrity actress Mary Louise Parker bested four of the "Desperate Housewsives" and took top honors for her starring role in the irreverant "Weeds" about another desperate suburbanite who supports her family by becoming a pot dealer.

Cecil B. DeMille Award Finally, the Cecil B. DeMille Award for lifetime achievement was awarded to iconic English celebrity actor Anthony Hopkins who received his award from the luminously pregnant celebrity actress Gwyneth Paltrow, his co-star in the recent film "Proof".
