The Mysterious Saint

Jan 31, 2001 - © by Sheila M. Coyle

The girl was cured and our Saint went the route of so many other persecuted souls of that time, and the jailer felt remorse that he could not let the Saint go, or maybe that he did not let him go? Oh, miracles are worked with a two-edged sword, indeed.

As we said, miracles are helpful but not the point. Yet everyone wants one, at least at some time during life, and maybe more times than not, and isn't it too bad that we cannot package grace and heal humanity of disease. As far as I know, no one has been able to contain the mysteries of a miracle, nor can science distribute healing graces in a bottle or a tube. There are some who think this will one day be possible, and that all human beings have the capacity to heal themselves and others. The most effective accounts of healings are attributed to the grace of God, a mystery that steps in when everything else has been tried, and failed, exactly as events transpired with this month's mysterious Saint.

So, who is our Saint of the day?
