Emmo Gets His Due

Brazilian Emerson Fittipaldi, former F-1 World Champion and 2-time winner of the Indy 500, has been inducted into the Motorsports Hall of Fame.

Fittipaldi was in good company. Others inducted included Andy Granatelli, Fred Lorenzen, Tom McEwen, and Ken Miles.

I really don't like this race track as a fan. Not much passing. Difficult to televise and catch the drama. Belle Isle in the middle of the Detroit River is a beautiful setting, but you probably will only catch action at a corner or two if you attend. Or, better, maybe you'd get to rub elbows with the some of the all-star attendees. You've got to think every driver is busy laying on the team engineer demanding more horsepower and better handling so that they can qualify up front.

Let's go out on the proverbial limb and place a couple of bucks each on Kenny Brack and Helio Castroneves to win the pole and Paul Tracy to win the race.
