shop and a local art gallery (featuring the work of local Outer Banks artists) this store is one of the most popular shopping destinations on the Outer Banks. It is located in Manteo, NC just a few miles from Fort Raleigh National Historic Site. The store has been opened since 1967. I am really not a big shopper but this store never fails to put me into the holiday spirit even in the heat of August.

Nags Head Hammocks

Fine quality handmade hammocks and hammock chairs are their specialty. Visit the store in Nags Head to see some of these unique creations. You may even get to watch a hammock being made while you are there.

Kitty Hawk Kites and Carolina Outdoors

It only seems appropriate that the birthplace of modern aviation would now boast a thriving kite and hang gliding industry. The main store is conveniently located across from Jockey's Ridge State Park. This store is the perfect place to pick-up supplies and equipment for such activities as hang gliding, sea kayaking, wind surfing, kite flying, etc. Even if none of these activities are of interest to you or your family it is worth a visit just to take a look at all the magnificent kites, wind socks, and flags that are available.

Few areas provide such a robust combination of beach life, fun, and history as the North Carolina Outer Banks. For providing a rewarding family vacation for all to enjoy the Outer Banks area definitely hits the mark.
