GET MORE FROM YOUR CARIBBEAN VACATION. Part 1the influence that the "MONEY FACTOR" has on people's vacations. It works this way. A. Many businesses pay a kickback (percentage of the sales) to the cruise ships for sending passengers to buy from them. B. The cruise ships have a Port and Tour representative who gives talks and recommendations as to "where you can get the best buys" (by the way.... would you like to buy some ocean-front property in Arizona by any chance?). C. Gullible travelers, who are manipulated via psychological methods used by the cruise staff, fall for the advice given on the ship, and often become AFRAID to shop anywhere else. They are told so many 'horror stories' (not always, but it happens on more ships than you might think) about people being cheated or ripped off, that they are afraid to shop elsewhere. The cruise ship representatives do such a good job of winning the people's confidence with their smiles and seemingly genuine concern, that the people truly believe they really care. Most cruise passengers never hear the PLANNING meetings and discussions held among the cruise staff to make the best of their 'attack' on people's wallets... I have personally witnessed some of those meetings. D. Those shoppers statistically spend a GREAT DEAL of money in the recommended stores, and that nets the cruise line a nice tidy bit of extra income. When the cruise staff does a good job, it means promotions and more money for them. Therefore, the vacationer is brain-washed to believe they are getting the "best vacation deal" while having their minds guided as they go spending 'merrily along' and making those companies more and more wealthy. Of course, one could feel sorry for those companies who are having to spend 300 to 400 million dollars for each new cruise ship they have built. However, you can be certain of this... If those ships were not making them money, they would not go to such expense. E. It doesn't stop there.... The same methods are used to convince people they should book their tours "ON THE SHIP" (or they will end up being ripped off). Why? Again... the answer is money. The cruise lines make a LOT of money from selling those tours on-board. F. The saddest part of all is that while vacation resort chains and cruise lines get richer, the locals on the islands and the vacationers get the raw end
