Stranger in the Woods

This is a terrific book to read to a child during the holidays. Who is the stranger? Why did he arrive in the woods right after a winter storm? What surprises does he hold in store for the creatures that live in the forest?

All of these questions will be answered to the delight of the young and the young at heart. Encourages children to respect the environment. An awesome read for all ages. Beautiful photography illustrations. Stranger in the Woods has won 5 major awards:

The Black Snowman[TheBlackSnowman]

Fantasy and reality are blended in this story about an urban Black youngster distresed with his family's poverty. But then Jacob and his younger brother make a snowman from the slush of the city street. Jacob is upset because the snowman is black, but his younger brother finds an old colorful cloth and drapes it over the snowman's shoulders. The cloth is really a Kente, an African storytelling shawl. What happens next changes Jacob's life forever. Ages 4 to 9. This book is a Blue Ribbon Winner.
