RECAP 2001: Canadian Tourism

Sandy McCollum, Contributing Editor of Slices of Northern Life issued a recap challenge to all Suite101 Editors. Sandy challenged us to write a recap, incorporating all of our 2001 article titles into the article and provide links back to them. Well Sandy, mine is finally here. I had a lot of fun writing it and hope that everyone gets a chuckle out of it. Thanks for issuing this challenge. It made my imagination soar.

Throughout 2001 The World Has Changed. My wish for the world for the New Year is that The World Cries - Again of September 11th will cause President Bush and the Free World to Stamp Out Terrorism.

2002 should be the year we watch Lights in the Night Sky: Aurora Borealis and encourage The Royal Canadian Mounted Police to Create a Winter Garden for Wildlife. Alberta's White Pelicans, A White Ball of Fur and Cougars could stay within the garden, where they could serve Floral Cuisine. It could be situated near the The African Lion Safari. The mounties could teach Family Fishing Basics and we could have Fun at the Creek. The Eagles of Squamish could fly overhead, their call echoing over , The Mountains I Have Climbed.

Granny Dan could take us to visit Buffalo Jump National Park, where the ancestors of Victoria Callihoo hunted the Canadian Plains for buffalo for food, clothing, robes and teepees. From there, we could go to Sainte Marie Among the Hurons and learn Pow Wow Etiquette and take a trip to The Six Nations of the Grand River, where the Native Peoples could teach us The Meaning of a Native Pow Wow.

From there we could travel to Churchill, Manitoba: Polar Bear Capitol of the World, then move on to Canada's Northwest Territories and the newest province of that country, Nunavut.

While there we can dine on Edible Landscapes before heading south to The International Peace Garden in beautiful southern Manitoba.

By this time, it should be Easter. We can talk about
