HUNTING IN CANADA

For those who have been brought up to be hunters and for those that have learned to love the sport, there are great opportunities in Canada. Hunters come from all corners of the globe to hunt here. There are a variety of species in this country that make good eating and good trophies.

Many hunters come here looking for trophies and Canada has some of the best. This country has many different species that will challenge any hunter. Black and grizzly bear, white tail deer, mule deer, moose, bison, elk and wolves are just some of the species that are hunted here.

Some outfitters deal strictly with hunts for one species while others offer a variety of hunts. Do your homework and come up with a good outfitter who supplies the type of hunt you are looking for. This will ensure a rewarding experience and you won’t go home disappointed.

Double “LL” Outfitters are located in Central Manitoba. They operate a successful trophy deer hunt. A father and son run the business and specialize in large bucks. They try to ensure their clients leave with a trophy Canadian Buck.

Hunts are reasonably priced but there are few tags open for the 2001-hunting season in November. “LL” offers two separate hunt packages. The first is a week of living in a tent camp located on the shores of Lake Winniepgosis. Hunters are placed in tree stands above major corridors situated in large tracts of forested land. The second hunt is one where hunters stay in a licensed lodge and are transported to strategically situated tree stands placed specifically to intercept bucks. A five-day hunt costs $2000. US.

Alberta Wilderness Adventures have 23 years experience offering quality hunts for black bear, mule deer and moose. They are located 400 miles northwest of Edmonton Alberta on the British Columbia/Alberta border. Game is plentiful in this area which gives hunters a great chance of taking home the trophy of their dreams. The clover in the area attracts the deer to the quality food. Bow season starts in late August but the best time for rifle hunts are September, late October or in November during rut. Bear, wolf, fishing and bird hunts can be added to the mule deer hunt. Prices start at $2300 US plus licenses.

Moose Valley Outfitters offer hunts for seasoned hunters as well as beginners in the Peace River Region of British Columbia. With the Rocky Mountains as a backdrop, the area offers an abundance of game and majestic scenery.

Mary,

I was raised in a home of avid hunters. As the females of the home, with a Mom that didn't know how or want to cook venison, we rejoiced when the mighty hunters came back empty of hand.
