A TRIBUTE TO COLIN VAUGHAN

met. Every newspaper and TV station in the Metro area has done at least one story on him. I am sure his family and colleagues are still in a state of shock and will mourn his passing forever. Of one thing I am certain. With the passing of 1999 and Colin Vaughan, CITY-TV will never be the same. The coverage during election time and the reports from City Hall will be changed forever. Colin's great journalism style will never be duplicated and, after following his coverage of these events, any new political journalist will have a hard act to follow.

His family, friends and colleagues will not only miss Colin, but his many fans will feel a great loss. I know that I will miss his vivacious style and mischievous smile.

Colin cared for all people. I have watched him tour Toronto's streets with the Anishnawbe Street Patrol, trying to enhance the quality of life for Toronto's homeless. This was one of his favorite charities. The other was Tafelmusik. I am sure the people at those organizations will miss his support.

At this time, I would like to extend my condolences to the Vaughan family and to the staff of CITY-TV.

Sincere thanks to Prime Minister Chretian, Premiere Mike Harris, Mayor Mel Lastman and all the other politicians who publicly praised Colin's life. Canada, Ontario and the media have lost a great journalist.

Colin, I bid you goodbye and may you rest in peace.
