Recap 2004: Canadian Tourism© Mary M. Alward
In January, 2002, Sandy McCollum, Contributing Editor of Slices of Northern Life, challenged all writers at the Suite to write a recap article for 2001. She wanted us to include the title of every article we'd written and provide a link back. This year I'm going to once again attempt to do so. I challenge every Feature Writer at the Suite to do the same. Here is my attempt:
January is not the time to go Hunting in Nunavut. Instead, you might want to head to Richmond, Virginia and check out the birthplace of Maggie Lena Walker, a former slave who took it upon herself to accomplish something and make life better for those of her race. She was a grand lady who left us a great legacy and you will enjoy learning about her successes. After Virginia, you might want to head up to Canada. There are some Unsolved Crimes: Brantford, Ontario, that you might be able to lend a hand solving. Who knows what you could find out sifting through Brantford's Cold Case Files? After a bit of detective work, you will need a break. I suggest you stay in the southern Ontario area and take a drive to Wings of Paradise Butterfly Conservatory in Cambridge. They always have a terrific display and you will marvel at the species of butterflies seen there. Once you arrive safely home after your visit to this marvel, you might want to create a few Fragrant Dishes for your Outdoor Dinner Party. It's always nice to sit outside and dine with family or friends. The cool breeze that drifts by will leave you feeling refreshed. Well, it's off again and this time we're going to take a trip to Canada's westcoast. Victoria, British Columbia for Kids is also lots of fun for the young at heart. From Victoria, you can catch a flight and head to Juno Beach, where hundreds of Canadian soldiers died during WWII. However, you will be too late for 60 Years Later: June 6, 1944, the anniversary of the landing. If you don't stay more than a week, you can catch a flight back to Ontario in time for Strawberry Time. Don't eat too many strawberries while you're picking them in case you are allergic. Hives and itching can make you Screech Like a Banshee. Go To Page: 1 2
