CHILD MURDERED IN TORONTO - Page 2

Whether or not the Bill is passed through Parliament, it can't save little Holly Jones, who, I would imagine, was put through a great deal before her life ended. She was an innocent child who committed no crime. How can her killer's rights come before hers? This doesn't make any sense to me. Canadian laws HAVE to be changed to protect the innocent. Criminals should have NO RIGHTS!

Toronto police divers are in the water as I write this, looking for more evidence in the case. Holly's legs are still missing. Police are trying to determine current and wind patterns to ascertain if the bags containing Holly's remains were discarded at the same or separate times. They are appealing to the public for help in bringing Holly's killer to justice. Inspector Brian Raybould had this to say today: "What is believed to be the most trivial information could be of crucial importance to us." Police have received more than 1600 tips on a telephone hotline since Holly's remains were found. They say that every lead, no matter how small, will be fully investigated.

The City of Toronto is in a state of shock to think that an innocent child could be abducted from the quiet neighborhood of Sterling Street in broad daylight. The incident has shaken the city to the core.

People began leaving flowers and tributes outside of Holly's home as soon as the news of her death was made public. The front lawn is now adorned with thousands of flowers, notes, photos and other tributes to the young girl's life.

Holly's mother has been holding up remarkably well throughout the ordeal. She wrote a tribute to her daughter. It was read at the child's funeral today by an officer of Toronto Police Services. Hundreds of people filled the church. Hundreds more stood outside in light drizzle to pay their respects to Holly and her parents.

Holly loved music. She hated broccoli and loved her mother's home made cooking. She also loved visiting McDonalds. Her dream was to grow up and be a rock star. Unfortunately, Holly's dreams died with her when an animal, disguised as a human being, came across her on April 12. May she rest in peace.

Update:

Organizer Pat Hood, who is a resident of Toronto has put together a petition calling for Holly's Law to be initiated. The law would "require sexual offenders convicted of crimes against children to undergo 'dangerous offender' evaluation before becoming eligible for release." Please go to http://www.hollyslaw.ca and read and sign this petition. We must get these people off the streets.

Hi Mary,

What a sad and tragic story! When I read that there were over 200 predators living within 3 kilometers of Holly's home, and no one in the community was notified, I was angry!

When will ...
