Amazon Prepares to Air Final Episode© J. l.
I almost never change my opinion on a show, and it's been my experience when a show is bad when it premieres, it's bad when it ends. Amazon surprised me. While not the most well-written show on the air, and certainly not the most realistic, Amazon became rather catchy in the latter half of the season. Much of this is connected with the excellent supporting cast, including Canadian up-and-coming talents Gabriel Hogan, Katie Emme McIninch, and Tyler Hynes.
After a less than spectacular season, the Alliance-Atlantis production of Peter Benchley's Amazon will come to a grinding halt with the 22 The show followed the adventures of six survivors of a tragic plane crash. Flight attendant Karen Oldham, egotistical surgeon Alex Kennedy, opera diva Pia Claire, auto mechanic Jimmy Stack, terminal teacher Andrew Talbott, and 'Chosen One' Will Bauer. Along the way, they meet a number of native tribes on the island, the majority of which speak perfect English. Supermodel-turned-actress Carol Alt is flight attendant Karen Oldham, a woman who would rather be at home in the States than traipsing through an Amazonian jungle. In real life, Alt was well-known as a supermodel before turning to acting in the mid-eighties. Unfortunately, it's not her acting that gets her the most notice -- it's her personal relationships with controversial NHL players. C. Thomas Howell is Dr. Alex Kennedy. Kennedy is selfish, egotistical, arrogant and about as sympathetic as a ball python. He has his brief moments of humanity, such as when he saved the life of tribeswoman Hekka. But, basically he's a jerk. In real life, Howell is probably best remembered for being forgotten. He's got a long list of movie and television credits, but his last big hit was as Ponyboy Curtis in the long-ago film The Outsiders. Divorced from well-known actress Lori Loughlin, of 'Full House' fame, Howell lives in LA with his current wife and young children. Argentinian/Italian actress Fabiana Udenio is opera diva Pia Claire, a pampered and spoiled jet-setter faced with life in the wilds. Despite her snobby exterior, Pia has a soft heart and a sharp wit, often delivering the show's best comedic lines. Although Udenio's biggest American role to date was Alotta Fagina in Austin Powers, many children of the 80s will remember her from the cult classic Summer School, as the object of Dave and Chainsaw's obsession. Udenio was also Miss Teen Italy at the tender age of 14. Go To Page: 1 2
