Starring Cameron Bancroft as Ethaniel and Ingrid Kavelaars as Laura Keating, "Code Name: Eternity" is Canada's newest solution to the sci-fi craze sweeping the nation. In the past few years, Canada has been home to some of the most well-known of the sci-fi series, including "The X Files" (seasons one through five), "Millenium", and the recently cancelled "Harsh Realm" (all Chris Carter shows), and also the Canadian-made "PSI Factor: Chronicles of the Unknown" and "The Outer Limits".
This year, though, the WB network in the US came out with "Roswell", a show about alien high school students and their human friends. A few years ago, there was a fondly remembered series "Alien Nation". Canada figured it was about time that they added one more chapter to the extraterrestrial story. Ethaniel is an alien who has come to earth. Laura is a doctor he just happens to be on the run with. The two have been accused of murdering Laura's mentor, but have been set up. They go on the run to try to prove their innocence, running into a host of human, and alien, bad guys along the way. Even though Cameron Bancroft is one of the biggest actors to come out of Canada in recent times, and the show boasts of a well-rounded supporting cast including such well-known actors as Billy Dee Williams, Andrew Gillies, Wolf Larson, and Oliver Gruner, the show seems to be a cross between the recent Canadian flop "Two" (with a man running from the law after his twin brother murdered his wife) and the much more well-received Canadian series "Stargate: SG-I" (aliens and humans work together to save Earth) -- a bad cross. Although the series is set to air 26 episodes starting mid-season, that could change at any time, especially since two of the shows originally slated to be on Global this fall ("Ryan Caulfield: Year One" and "Harsh Realm"). The show has already aired in some parts of Europe, and will soon air in North America.
