Da Vinci's Inquest: CBC's Hit of the Season

The show practices an excellent utilization of Canadian actors (my original reason for checking the show out was my own long-time appreciation of actor Ian Tracey), and I can't remember seeing a more accurate portrayal of "real life" in years (at least on a Canadian show). The only other show on the air that I can compare to it right now is, oddly enough, an American soap opera, "Passions". Although the storyline was poorly executed and even more poorly written, the show's encorporation of the death of Princess Diana into the storyline marked the first time in years I can remember a real life event that affected so many people being portrayed on the small screen. An easy B+, and worth checking out in it's second season, due to start this fall on CBC. But be warned -- when CBC includes the warning note at the beginning of each episode about mature content and viewer discretion advised, they're not kidding.
