Power Play: 100% Canadian Madedo series creators Laurin and Davis, and Canadian regular (Bernie on "Taking the Falls"), and profiles a number of other Canadian actors throughout the season (including "Traders" regular Gabriel Hogan as bad boy Bobby Gunn), and uses, as back-up hockey players, not actors, but actual hockey players who, while they may not play NHL, are still impressive on the ice and lend to the realistic hockey scenes. This show gets two thumbs up from me. Solely Canadian shows often tend to be poorly made in comparison to their Canadian/American counterparts, but "Power Play" has proved that solely Canadian ventures can succeed on their own. The storylines are far more well-developed for "Power Play" than they were for "Once a Thief", and most of the characters (with the exception of Brett Parker) are fairly human, likeable individuals. Assumably the next season will start airing in September. Some CTV affiliates are currently re-airing the first season, so if you've got a CTV affiliate in your area, check your TV guide very closely for times. (I've gotten two re-airings since the beginning of March. Once on a Monday, once on a Saturday, and over three weeks apart.) Contract Cast Members: Michael Riley (Brett Parker), Kari Matchett (Colleen Blessed), Dean McDermott (Mark Simpson), Caterina Scorsone (Michelle Parker), Gordon Pinsent (Duff McCardle). Recurring Cast Members: Jonathan Rannells (Todd Maplethorpe), Mark Lutz (Juko Branny-Acke), Lori Alter (AKA. Lori Anne Alter) (Renata D'Alessandro).
